Claire E. Metzger

COLONIE – Claire E. Metzger, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Teresian House with her loving family by her side. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Catherine Wilson. Claire lived in Colonie for all of her life. She was a life member of the Fuller Road Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Claire liked to keep in touch with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Claire will fondly be remembered as faithfully walking in her neighborhood for many years and stopping to chat with everyone.


Claire was the beloved wife of fifty-three years to the late Frank K. Metzger, Jr. She is the devoted mother of Mary (David) Ernst of Sand Lake and Karen Clark of Castleton. Claire is the cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Claudia) Clark, Beth (Luke) Ernst, Kelly (Marc) Havens, David (Joelle) Ernst and Paul (Helena) Clark and loving great-grandmother of Jordan, Gianna, Ricky, Tyler, Vinnie, Sean, Madison, Olivia and Sophia and Drew. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Claire was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Grant, Mary Lou Weiss, Howard Wilson and William Wilson. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Teresian House for providing a loving and caring home for our mom for the past five and a half years.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Infant of Prague Chapel, Teresian House. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203 or Fuller Road Fire Dept.
