Clara B. Gardner

COLONIE, NY – Clara B. Gardner passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Costanty and Emelia Gadomski. Mrs. Gardner lived in Colonie since 1964. She worked as an x-ray technician for the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Albany before her retirement. Clara was a communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her cherished family. Clara was the beloved wife of 63 years to Louis J. Gardner until his passing in March, 2009. She is the devoted mother of Donald (Alice) Gardner of Yakima, WA, Ann Marie (Garry) Slyke of Guilderland and Claire (Richard) Vandenbergh of Castleton. Clara is the cherished grandmother of Wesley Slyke, Cyndy Slyke (John Paul) Mastan, John Vandenbergh and Louis Vandenbergh. Clara is the adoring great-grandmother of Caden. She is the sister of Henry (Anna) Gadomski and the late Ignatius, Joseph (Lillian), William, Alexander, Stanley, Pauline (Joseph), Helen, Theresa (John), Jennie (John), Adam, Sister Agatha,C.R., Mary (Sam) and Bernice. She is the sister-in-law of Mildred and George. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Clara's family would like to thank her son-in-law, Garry, for his unwavering support and dedication to her.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church (formerly St. Francis de Sales) 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. At the request of the family, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210 in memory of Clara B. Gardner.
