Clara Skerritt Breslin died at the Glendale home after a period of decline. She was 91 years young.
Clara was born November 29, 1930 to the late John and Helen (Rogers) Skerritt. Clara was a lifelong resident of the Albany area. She attended Our Lady of Angels school and graduated from Albany High in 1948.
She married Thomas Breslin in 1955 and raised their 6 children. They were married 67 years.
Clara was somewhat of a pioneer for women becoming a computer programmer in the 1970's. She retired from State service in 1985 as a Sr. System Analyst. She was brilliant; She was an avid reader, always completed her crossword puzzles in pen, and was nearly unbeatable at Trivial Pursuit.
She was marvelous at knitting and crocheting, and there are many beautiful mementos of her talents. She enjoyed bowling for many years, as well as dancing, and playing cards. In her retirement, she developed a fondness for slot machines and would enjoy senior day at the Racino or overnights at the TurningStone with Tom and their dear, lifelong friends Don and Dolly. But most of all she loved her family. The big holiday gatherings and regular Sunday suppers were always filled with laughter and great memories. And no one could make spaghetti and meatballs like hers.
She was predeceased by her husband Tom and sons Thomas M. and Daniel Breslin as well as her brothers Jack (Shirley) and George (Rose) Skerritt
She is survived by her children Anthony (Tina) Breslin, Terry (Linda Kern) Breslin, Timothy Breslin and Mary Lou (Joe) Darling, her grandchildren A J Breslin, Christopher Breslin, Linda DeSantis, Teresa (Tim) Richards, Elizabeth (Noah) Gifford, Jason (Kayla Kristie) Breslin, Corey VanWormer and Joshua (Becca Faas) Breslin and 8 great grandchildren.
