ALBANY - Clarence Edward Duell, Sr. "Ed", 74, of Albany, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, in St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was the son of the late Clarence Duell and Doris (DeLong) Duell.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a maintenance engineer for 25 years by WTEN Channel 10 in Albany, before retiring.
He is predeceased by his son, Benjamine F. Duell, and his siblings, Suzie Rivers, Lawrence Willett, and Albert Willett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlotte A. (Crossman) Duell, his sons, Clarence Edward (Ed) Duell, Jr. (Robin) of Albany, and Christopher M. (Mike) Duell (Dorothy) of Slingerlands, and daughter, Kristina A. (Kris) Coffey (Tim) of Colonie. He is also survived by his brother, Lyle Duell (Karen) of Catskill, his grandchildren, Jonathan Riley and Ryan Riley, both of Wyoming, Timothy P. Coffey, Jr. (Jessica Kotova) of North Carolina, Christopher M. Duell, Jr. of Slingerlands, Benjamine F. Duell, Jr. of Colonie, Heather L. (Coffey) Perreault (Brandon) of Colonie, and James M. Coffey (Stephanie Donato) of Colonie, nine great-grandchildren, his dear friends, Warren and Donna Espy, and Robert and Robin Molt, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
The family would like to thank the St. Peter's Hospital staff in the Emergency Room and in the Cardiac Care Unit for their care and compassion during his stay.
Funeral services will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY, Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home, Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Albany, NY.
