Albany- Duell, Clarence Edward, Jr. "Ed", 54, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was the son of Charlotte A. (Crossman) Duell and the late Clarence Edward Duell of Albany. He is predeceased by his brother, Benjamin F. Duell, and his stepdaughter, Brianna Beebe.
Ed had many interests and worked in a variety of professions, which included working as a ranch hand in Wyoming, a cook, a truck driver, and a building maintenance technician. His other interests included football and baseball. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan, and he had an extensive collection of baseball cards.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Robin (Beebe) Duell; his sons, Jonathan Riley (Brittany) and Ryan Riley, both of Wyoming, and Thomas Duell of Nebraska; his daughter, Kalyn Duell of Nebraska; his stepdaughters, Danielle Balls Saurez (Orlando) and Courtney Beebe; his siblings, Kristina A. "Kris" Coffey (Tim) of Colonie, and Christopher M. "Mike" Duell (Dorothy) of Slingerlands; his grandchildren, Blane, Malia, Makenzie, Aubrie, Blake, Vanessa, Bre'lyn and Colton; his niece, Nina Verdi (who playfully referred to Ed as "skunkel uncle"); his nephews, Timothy P. Coffey, Jr. of North Carolina, Christopher M. "Mike" Duell, Jr. of Slingerlands, Benjamine F. Duell, Jr., James M. Coffey (Stephanie Donato), and niece, Heather L. Perreault (Brandon), all of Colonie; his close friends, Warren and Donna Espey, Bill Espey, and Robert and Robin Molt, as well as several other nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed's honor would be appreciated, to Hope House of Albany, NY (hopehouseinc.org) or to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP.org). Substance abuse prevention and treatment, and suicide prevention, are two causes that Ed cared deeply about.
