Schenectady- Clarence J. Olsen , 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 24, 2016.
Clarence enjoyed watching the Mets games and going fishing but especially enjoyed napping with his dogs: Angel and Bridget. At 21 years old, Clarence enlisted in the Marine Corps and served our Country in the Korean War. He also was a golden gloves championship boxer while serving in the Military.
Clarence will be forever missed by his devoted wife: Maureen Olsen; daughters: Bonnie (Larry) Ryan, Betsy (Richard) Bollten, Debra (Richard) Countermine, and Nancy (Brian Cuoccio) Mahan; sisters: Joyce Horton, and Patricia Olsen; grandchildren: Paul Ryan, Kelly (Michael) McCarthy, Jaime (Scott) Fellows, Robert (Tiffany Fischer) Krawiecki, Amanda (Kevin) Barrett, Meghan (Shawn Hunt) Countermine, Emily (Christopher Fischer) Mahan, Adam Mahan, Tony and Nick Falter, Sarah, Cody, Matt, Brittany, Shyanne, and Samantha and; great grandchildren: Kayden Barrett, Dylan Hunt, Gavin Hunt, Kody Barrett, Kylie Hunt, Jayden, Damien, Brayden, Aislin, Brilee, Ashlin, and Kinzley; step children: Lisa (Matthew) Falter, Earl Mertz, John (Sandy) Mertz; his sister in laws: Darlene Pennie, Roberta, Antionette, and Marion Olsen; along with a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Clarence is predeceased by his first wife: Barbara Febbie-Olsen; son: James Allen Olsen; and his siblings: Winifred, John Jr., Donald, Dorothy, Kenneth, Carl, Earl, Paul, and Thomas.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his sister in law Darlene Pennie, the Paramedics from the Mariaville Fire Department and the staff of the ICU at Ellis Hospital for all of their help and compassion.
A burial will take place at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 2150 Central Ave, Schenectady, 12304, on Monday, March 28th, 2016 at 11:00 am.
There will be a gathering to follow the burial at the Rexford Firehouse. Family, Friends, and Food are welcome!
