Schenectady- Claretha S. "Shirley" Kerr, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Clara Haymon. Shirley was the devoted loving wife to the late Homer Kerr for 68 wonderful years.
After graduating from Franklin K. Lane High School, Shirley worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance and then went on to work data entry for NYS Department of Tax and Finance until her retirement.
Shirley was a proud member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Schenectady.
Shirley enjoyed spending her time reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and cooking for family and friends. She had a fond love of music.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Belinda K. (Larry) Gravett; son, Kevin W. (Vanecia) Kerr; and 2 grandsons Adam and Kristoff; brother, William M. Haymon; nieces, Lauren and Briana; along with many other relatives and close friends.
Services will be held privately for the family with a memorial celebration to be held in 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirley's name to the Teresian House Center for the Elderly, 200 Washington Ave Ext, Albany, NY 12203
