ALBANY – Clark Owens, 80, of Albany passed away on August 9, 2021, at the Delmar Center.
Nicknamed "Jesse" by his family, he was born on March 29, 1941, in Statesboro, Georgia, the son of the late Jonathan Johnson and Mary Lee Owens-Murray.
He graduated from Georgia Public Schools before he moved from Statesboro, Georgia to Albany with his family in the mid 1960's. He continued his education at Albany Learning Center. He was employed D.A. Collins Construction Co. in Albany, retiring in 2007. Clark was devoted to his church. A beloved Deacon known to everyone as "Deacon Owens".
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a super fan of both professional wrestling and boxing. He cherished spending time with his family and most importantly, he loved his Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his beloved church community.
Clark was preceded in death by his wife Mary L. Owens and a sister Mary Lee Johnson. He is survived by his children; George Sanders (Pamela), Clark Anthony Owens (Sharon) Toney McCann (Angel). In addition to his children, Clark leaves behind his siblings; Linda Shatteen (Ernie), Dorothy Carolyn Murray, Martha Helen Goodwin (Pete), Joann Ponder (William), and Joseph Owens, an uncle he loved dearly and two aunts who favored him, Martha Williams (Clarence), Frances Graham. Clark's legacy includes eleven grandchildren. Eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with a home going celebration at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church
236 N. Pearl Street, Albany.
Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery
