ROTTERDAM - Clayton A. Palmer, Jr., 93, of Rotterdam, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Nassau, NY on December 18, 1927 a son of the late Clayton A. and Nellie G. (Balfoort) Palmer, Sr.
Clayton, Jr. was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in Guam. Following his discharge from the military, he was employed for over 45 years as an Electrical Lineman then a Foreman with the IBEW Local 1249 in Syracuse.
Clayton served his community as a Past President and Board of Trustees for the Carman United Methodist Church. He also shared his talent and love of gardening with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Smith and Richard Palmer.
Clayton is lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Janet (Goodfellow) Palmer; his 3 children, Deborah (Frank) Cocca, Kathleen Hunter and Raymond (Denise) Palmer; 6 grandchildren, Roland, Jeremy, Jennifer, Amanda, James and Jason; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Donald and Leonard Palmer and Carol Philippi and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Friday, August 13, 2021. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
