Rotterdam- Colleen Waggoner Dougan,74, entered into eternal life suddenly on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Colleen was born in Cohoes, New York on August 29, 1947 to the late Charles V. Waggoner and Patricia J. O'Grady. She was a 1966 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and graduate of Maria College in 1987.
Colleen had a rewarding career as a New York State employee and retired from New York State Teachers' Retirement in 2010.
Following her retirement, Colleen filled her days with faith, family, and magic. A communicant of Saint Madeline Sophie in Guilderland, her devotion to God was an important part of daily life. In addition to enjoying the fellowship of her community of faith, Colleen spent many hours in prayerful reflection.
Colleen had a playful spirit and an artistic flair that she expressed through her sense of style, creative pursuits, and her love of all things Disney. She cherished the company of her scrap booking community while chronicling her family's escapades. Those who knew her described her as a kind and generous spirit, and was happiest when surrounded by her family. Colleen enjoyed many family trips to Walt Disney World where she found it to be the most magical place on earth and referred to it as her happy place.
Colleen leaves behind her beloved daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Singleman. Her cherished grandchildren; Sabrina Dougan (Haley Casler), Kristin Singleman (Christopher Carlock), Katelyn Singleman, Charles Singleman, and Henry Singleman.
Colleen is survived by her treasured sisters Christine (Salvatore) Fiato and Cynthia (David) Hoyt and her loving nieces and nephews Audra (Robert) Jones, Bridget M. Cooke, Shawn Maloy and Cassandra Maloy (Jason Dambrose), Sara (Frank) Citizen, Amylynn (Joey) Smith, Judi (Alex) Freeland. She is also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. In addition, Colleen leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Louisiana "Angel" Flyboy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to either Wildwood Programs Foundation at 1190 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110 or to Maria College 700 New Scotland Ave, Albany, NY 12208
