GUILDERLAND – Connie Laymond, 77, a long time Colonie resident, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 24, 2005 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. She was born in Jerome, ID moving to Marathon, NY when she was four. Connie was raised "on the farm" before moving to Schenectady. She worked at G.E. Knolls before becoming a fulltime mom, a job she did well for over 47 years. At a time when women stayed at home, Connie went to work as an Avon Lady. She was the number one sales person in the area for several years. Connie received numerous awards during her 40 year career as an Avon sales rep, including a trip to Hawaii and a new car. Connie and Avon were a perfect fit, as she loved to talk and be with people. She enjoyed a good laugh, a good joke and a sentimental cry. Connie touched so many lives, and will be remembered by many for her big heart, warm personality and great sense of humor. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Ned Laymond in 1986. They are now happily reunited. Connie leaves behind her devoted daughters, Mary Harvazinski and her husband, Larry of Slingerlands and Peggy Powers and her husband, Joseph of Queens Creek, AZ. Loving grandchildren include Matthew and Andrew Harvazinski and Colleen and Catherine Powers, who will miss their beloved "Binga." Connie's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for all of the care and support they gave to Connie during her stay with them.
