Bonaventura, Concetta Schiliro
Albany- Concetta Schiliro Bonaventura, devoted wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Bronte, Italy to the late Giosue Schiliro and Margherita Schiliro (nee Rivace). After her father died at a young age, she was raised, together with her four siblings, by an aunt who was a renowned baker and where under her tutelage, she learned to bake a variety of scrumptious desserts and breads that were enjoyed by family and friends.
She was also a talented seamstress with a fine artistic flair that she applied to her many projects and creations especially when she was sewing for her three daughters.
She was happiest at family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Concetta was predeceased by her husband Gino Bonaventura in 2004 and her youngest daughter Anna Maria Bonaventura in 2005. She is survived by her daughters; Tina Verrelli (Lino) of Slingerlands and Margaret Bonaventura- Sparagna (Peter Sparagna) of Hadley. Much loved "Nonna" of; David, Adriana and Leeana Verrelli and Joshua Bonaventura Sparagna (Stacy Cloutier). She will also be missed by her great grandchildren; Vincent and Leo Verrelli, Nicholas and Alexander Teta and Madelyn Sparagna. She is also survived by her sister and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.
Services at this time will be private and a memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
