Colonie- Concetta Giannetto, 65, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2018 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily to Pietro Micale and Giovanna Micale. She was the wife of Vincenzo Giannetto and devoted mother to her children, Vera Boomhower (Thomas) and Joseph Giannetto (Lauren), and grandmother to Jacob Boomhower and Brianna Boomhower. She is also survived by her siblings Raffaele Micale (Alicia) and Rosetta Celella (Pasquale).
Concetta came to America in 1968 at the age of 16. From the moment she stepped foot in America, she contributed to her community, eventually becoming the owner of Angelo's Giant Submarines. Along with her husband, for over 30 years, they dedicated themselves to not only providing their customers the best subs, but also becoming a part of their lives. They sponsored little league teams, always opened their door to the needy, and served multiple generations of families. Everyone in the neighborhood knew them and they knew everyone. But, Concetta's greatest passion was her family. And that passion and love came through in her cooking, which her children will miss dearly. She never sat down before everyone else was done eating, and once you refused your fourth plate of pasta, she would ask, "Are you feeling okay?" She instilled in her children a hard work ethic and fierce love of family. Finally, she was devoted to God, who has now welcomed her in the Kingdom of Heaven. Concetta will be missed by all who knew her, but none more than her family.
