COLONIE – Conrad G. Stenglein, 86, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010, after a brief illness. He was born in Allentown, PA and was the son of the late Conrad and Marguerite Stenglein. His family moved to Seneca Falls and he was raised there on the farm. Conrad has lived in Colonie for over 53 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. Mr. Stenglein was a proud member of Union Local #83 Sheet metal Workers Union for over 60 years. In earlier years he coached Babe Ruth baseball. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a communicant of St. Clare's Church in Colonie. Conrad was the beloved husband of the late Ruth M. Stenglein. He is the devoted father of Ernest J. Perry, Conrad W. (Nancy) Stenglein, Deborah M. (David) West, Gary E. (Lynn) Stenglein, Casey D. (Theresa) Stenglein and the late Ronald E. Perry. He is the brother of Edward J. Stenglein. Conrad is the cherished grandfather of Shane Perry, Shannon Bacon, Kristie Davis, Matthew and Joshua Stenglein, Heather, Jennifer and Ashley West, Danielle Wilson and Charles Page, III. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Perry.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Conrad G. Stenglein.
