ALBANY - Gordon, Conrad Mason 61, of Albany, Passed away Friday, August 12th, at approximately 8:15 am at Albany Medical Center.
He was born November 17, 1961, at Columbia Prespertarian Hospital in Manhattan, NY, and was the son of Ruth and Conrad Gordon.
Conrad started out as an adventurous man riding dirt bikes at the young age of 13. He also dabbled in repairing and modifying the bikes in order to appease his need for speed and power. He graduated from Albany High school, then went on to pursue Automotive Technology at SUNY Farmingdale. From this, he became a Master Mechanic at a Garage in Poundridge, NY. He ventured on to join the US coastguard where he served for 4 years. From here, He continued to pursue his work at many different locations for a multitude of years until he ended up at Depaula Chevrolet in Albany. There, he was a Master Machanic for years until his expertise was needed at Denooyer Chevrolet. During this time, Conrad became extremely passionate about Drag racing and would travel near and far to compete. His talent was astonishing and his dedication to his craft is what made him well experienced. His sickness became more evident, which minimized the amount of time he had left racing his Chevy Malibu. However, his passion for the sport never diminished. Not only did he race as much as he could, which literally consisted of him going before and after hospital visits, but he also accumulated slot cars and raced those competitively as well. He became proficient in this craft as well, which kept his spirit up and his passion alive. His talent stretched to more of his interests, and his success in all he did made him not only an inspiration but also an aspiration. Yes, he was a mechanic, and yes he was a racer, but bigger than that, he was a son, brother, uncle, and incredible friend and idol. Conrad was one of the most cantankerous men, but also one of the most tender. His intentions were pure, and his energy craved light. He certainly blessed this earth with his presence, and to say he will be missed is an understatement. His legacy will live on for years to come, for he is a LEGEND.
He is survived by his Mother, Ruth Gordon, His father, Conrad Gordon, His brothers, Mark Gordon and Luniel Gordon, his sisters Arvilla Isley, Dorean Gordon, and Laverne Alexander, and a host of generational nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his Grandmother; Juliette Noriega and nephew; Dayquan Alexander.
