ALBANY – Constance "Connie" M. Keating, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Teresian House in Albany.
Connie was born on October 14, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, NY and was the daughter of the late Theodore and Eileen (Doran) Joyner. She was also predeceased by her sister, Nancy Roberts. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany and SUNY at Cobleskill.
Connie was a dietician at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany Medical Center, Ann Lee Home, and Albany County Nursing Home. She retired from St. Peter's in 1996. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society and enjoyed baking, sewing, traveling (including 4 trips to Europe), her dogs, and reading. Her lifelong goal was to visit Rome and the Vatican and Ireland, which were achieved with her children. She was a breast cancer survivor and her hallmark was persistence and perseverance. She was known to her grandchildren as the "Purple Grandma" who "makes good pies".
Connie is survived by her loving children, Tim Keating of Clifton Park, Ted (Nina) Keating of Windham, NH, Barbara (Dan) Bachus of Ballston Lake, Michael (Maria) Keating of Greensboro, NC, Daniel (Kathleen) Keating of Ballston Spa and David (Jill) Keating of Selkirk and her cherished grandchildren, Kyleigh, Courtney, Justin, Brandon, Christopher, Meagan, Cameron, Joshua, Jack, Ana, Abby, and Bailey. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Colonie at the convenience of the family.
