Latham, NY - Constance L. Newell, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 28, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 1, 1947, in Cambridge, NY; Connie was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline Kovage of Hoosick Falls, NY. On June 10, 1972 she married Philip Newell and has resided in the Latham/Cohoes area since her marriage.
Connie worked for the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services and retired after 28 years of service.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend. Many of her volunteer activities centered around her children. She was active in the PTA, Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts and taught religious education for many years at Our Lady of the Assumption in Latham, NY. In later years her and her husband became members of St Edward’s the Confessor in Clifton Park. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and loved ones.
One of Connie’s favorite places to be was at her camp in Thurman, NY, on the Hudson river. She enjoyed many summers there, spending time with family and friends, especially her five grandchildren. The outdoors and the rolling river brought her a sense of peace.
Connie was predeceased by her husband Phil in 2018. She is survived by her two children Jennifer Hurd (Andrew) of Clifton Park and Gregory Newell (Jennifer) of Canton, CT. and her five grandchildren: Alexander Hurd, Joshua Newell, Abigale Hurd, Alayna Newell, and Ethan Newell as well as her fur baby Winston Churchill. She is also survived by two sisters, Joan Kay (Al), Kay Reed (Forest) and her brother Paul Kovage (Karen) along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Edward’s the Confessor, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park, NY 12065. Burial will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY 12871.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Community Hospice Foundation at 310 Manning Blvd., Albany NY 12208
