COLONIE – Cornelius A. Lucey, 90, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005. He was born in Hudson, NY and was the son of the late Cornelius and Katherine Lucey. He was a long time resident of Colonie. Mr. Lucey was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Cornelius was a tractor trailer driver for many years and was a member of the Teamsters Local #294. Mr. Lucey was an amateur HAM radio operator. He was an avid golfer and achieved his first hole in one at the age of 80. He volunteered with the Special Olympics and with Hurricane Relief. Cornelius is the beloved husband of 67 years to Grace Lucey. He is the devoted father of Richard Lucey, Sr. of Albany, Thomas Lucey of Scottsdale, AZ, Paul Lucey of Fishkill, Michael Lucey of Albany, Jerome Lucey of Reading, PA and Joanne Lord and Helen Lucey, both of Colonie. He is the brother of Joseph Lucey of Schodack and the late Anna Wentworth and Sr. Katherine Lucey, R.S.M. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206-2083 in memory of Cornelius A. Lucey.
