COLONIE – Cosimo Tropiano, 73, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home, after a brief illness on Thursday, May 21, 2009. Born in Siderno, Italy he was the son of the late Frank and Angela Tropiano. Cosimo lived in Colonie for twenty years and worked for the Freihofer Baking Company before he retired after twenty years of service. He enjoyed Tuesday night poker games with the guys and golfing. He was an avid traveler and spent many happy trips taking cruises with his wife, visiting Italy and trying his luck at different casinos. A true outdoorsman, Cosimo liked hunting and fishing, especially sharing these stories with his grandson Michael. He also loved spending time with his family, whether that meant playing dinosaurs with his grandson Nicholas, taking a walk or attending a barbeque. Cosimo is the beloved husband of 48 years to Teresa Tropiano. He is the devoted father of Frank (Michelle) Tropiano and cherished grandfather of Michael and Nicholas Tropiano of Guilderland. He is the brother of Tony (Enza) Tropiano, Vincenzo (Laura) Tropiano both of Canada, Giuseppe (Rosetta) Tropiano of Guilderland, Matilda (Giovanni) Lizzi of Italy and the late Esterina Tropiano and Rosetta (Fortunato) Romeo. Cosimo is also remembered fondly by his in-laws, Maria and Mario Jerace, Rosa and Joe Cirillo both of Australia, Nicola and Ada Lombardo of Italy, Tony and Esther Tropiano of Florida and the late Isabella and Paolo Tropiano. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memory's Garden.
