Colonie- Craig E. D'Angelo, 46, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep from a heart attack on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was born on September 5, 1970 in Pittsfield, MA to the late John D'Angelo and Joan C. Nacey.
Craig graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady. From there he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country through three years of active service and five years of reserve. He served in the South Pacific on the island of Johnston Atoll. Following his honorable discharge, Craig graduated from Hudson Valley Community College and went to work from Capital City Motors in South Albany for several years. He then joined the Colonie Police Force and served for nearly 10 years. Craig most recently worked for the New York State Division of Housing and Communities starting in 2009.
Craig was an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed collecting guns and studying military history. He was an incredible cook and loved to travel at every opportunity. Craig loved craft beer and belonged to the Adjudicators of the Round Barrel. He always looked forward to Sunday morning golf with his childhood friend, Lou Polsinelli. He was a true people person and loved to meet new people. He was always laughing and cherished his family above all.
He is survived by his adored wife Sara D'Angelo; his children, Mark and Sam; his brother, David (Carrie) Galluzzo; his sister, Melissa Judson of Delaware; his uncles, Phil Nacey and Steve D'Angelo as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also blessed to be surrounded by many cherished friends, too numerous to name.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4pm-6:30pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A memorial service will be at 6:30pm at the funeral home with an opportunity for all to share memories of Craig.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund set up for Craig's sons, Mark and Sam. The trust is held with CapCom Credit Union in their names.
