Cynthia J. Bower

September 24, 1926 — December 30, 2024

Cynthia J. Bower (Hatheway- Farquharson), 98, left this world peacefully on December 30, 2024.

Cynthia was born in Hartford, CT on September 24, 1926 to the late Robert and Olive Hatheway. She would eventually follow her sister, Nancy, to Hoosick Falls, where she would meet her first husband, the late Albert Farquharson.

Throughout her life, Cynthia would share her memories with her family of growing up in Hartford during WWII, and the notorious fire of the Barnum and Baily Circus. A lover of music, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ, karaoke, attending musical theater and singing in the church choir. She was gifted at crochet, knitting and doodling, and was an avid reader until her eyesight impeded that. In later years, she had fun attempting to learn the German language and was a lover of Bingo. Above all, she loved and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was her strength, and was heavily involved within her church. In addition to her many hobbies, she was involved with the Elks and Moose lodges, Meals on Wheels, and was a volunteer for 911 calls. Anyone who knew her enjoyed being around her, and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the many laughs she shared with others.

Cynthia was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Olive Hatheway; granddaughter, Sindylee; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Charles Kovage; stepbrother, Robert Hatheway; her late husbands, Albert Farquharson, George Brownlee, Bill Palmer and Olen Bower; and Jack Donovan.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Paula Sue), Linda (Robert Clyde), Phyllis (Richard Sherwood-deceased), Ann Marie (Daniel Schnoop), Thomas (Marcy-deceased), Paula (John Heffernan), Albert (Carol McCully), and John; grandchildren, Adam, Keene, Shane, Chrissandra, Mark, Michael, Crystal, Nicole, Betty, Tatum, Chad, Stacy, Kelly, and Mathew; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; two loving stepsisters, June Hatheway Golden and Jane Hatheway (Ted Morin) and brother-in-law, Marvin Thresher.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of The Community Hospice of Saratoga County for their exceptional care and compassion of Cynthia, especially: Paula and John Heffernan and Dajhon. Special thanks to Diane Huston, Kelly Hendricks, Liz Hayes, Colleen Licata, Chelsea Leathem, Nancy Tushabe and Brian Dykema.
