SCHENECTADY- Cyrus J. Kolod, Jr. , 73, of Schenectady, passed away on July 24, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born on November 24, 1942 to the late Cyrus and Elsie (Matarrazzo) Kolod in Schenectady, NY. Cyrus was a veteran of The U.S. Army serving his country in Germany where he was awarded a Basic Missileman Badge; as a sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and a Good Conduct Medal.
Cyrus retired after working for 38 years as an inspector for G.E. Cy was very active participant in all of the Schenectady High School athletics for both football and basketball. He was well known and well respected throughout the community and he will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege to know him.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Walt) Schmidt, Emily (Jeffrey) Weihing; grandson, Cameron Schmidt; brother, Gary (Janet) Kolod, Sam Kolod and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 5-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie, New York. Funeral services to celebrate Cy's life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10 am at the New Comer Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady, NY.
