LATHAM – Daniel J. Gray, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home. Born in Gloversville on July 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert and Helen O'Shea Gray. Dan's family moved to Bronx, NY when he and his twin brother were infants. He attended Creston Junior High School, graduating in 1943, before moving to Troy, NY where he attended Catholic Central High School, graduating in 1946. Mr. Gray joined the N.Y. Army National Guard Co. A 105th , then 205th Tank Battalion. He retired as a Tank Commander, SFC. He worked for Blanchard Industrial for 48 years before retiring in 1996. Mr. Gray was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church where he and his wife taught religious education for 36 years. He also coached the CYO basketball team, winning several championships. During his high school years, both Dan and his twin brother, Duke played CYO basketball for Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Dan was the beloved husband of the late Jane Gray who died in May, 2005. He is survived by his sons, Daniel J. Gray, Jr. of Latham and Michael Gray of Norfolk, VA. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Dan was the twin brother of the late Clarence "Duke" Gray.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial services on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in memory of Daniel J. Gray, Sr.
