Voorheesville – Daniel David Holup, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday 9/2/2020. Born November 7, 1960 in Allentown, PA. He was the son of the late Louise Halko and Daniel David Matthews.
Dan was a man larger than life. He touched the lives of many. He had the "gift of gab" and would happily talk for hours if you let him. He was a 1979 graduate of Linton High School in Schenectady. He served in the U.S. Navy and went on to be part owner of G&H Roofing/Masonry.
In later life he acquired his CDL license and was a self-employed handyman.
Dan married the love of his life, Donna Lussier in 1990 and although the marriage didn't last, (one of his deepest regrets) their 36 year bond did.
Dan's happiest moments were riding his motorcycle and tending to his 2 cats and flower garden. Most recently his health was challenged due to a near fatal motorcycle accident.
He is survived by his former wife and caregiver, Donna Lussier of Colonie who wishes to extend her heartfelt thanks to Dr. MaryLou Murrock, Center for the Disabled for all her kindness and Dr. Kevin George Psychiatrist, for years of guidance and compassion.
A visiting hour will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to the New Scotland Food Pantry c/o St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountain View Street, Voorheesville, NY 12186.
