COLONIE - Daniel J. Tomik, 62, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born on March 15, 1951 in Binghamton, NY and was the son of the late Anthony and Sophie (Charnetsky) Tomik. He graduated from Binghamton Central High School and received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from SUNY Potsdam. After working 25 years for NCR, he retired this spring from NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.
Dan was strong in his faith, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He also loved being around friends and family while sharing stories long into the night. Dan loved golfing, bowling & watching his Yankees and Giants. One of his greatest passions, however, was community outreach.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol L. (Utter) Tomik; his loving children, Heather (Tommy) Mastrogiovanni and Michael Tomik; his siblings, David (Margie) Tomik, Carol (Gary) Williams, Cathy Beard, John (Cheryl) Tomik, and Rose (Kevin) Kelly; his nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Jim (Amy), Kristen (Mick), Justin (Stacey), Aaron, Christine (Jim), Lori (Michael), Jason (Cristin), Brendan, Jeff, Jamie, Emily, Zach, and Zoe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Union St., Niskayuna. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's memory may be made to Community Hospice, 1411 Union St., Schenectady NY 12308 or Visiting Nurses of Albany, 35 Colvin Avenue, Albany NY 12206.
