ALBANY – Daniel L. Francis, 47, left us peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, with his loved one's by his side.
Daniel was born on March 27, 1964 in Albany and is the son of Constance V. (Breton) Francis and the late Alfred A. Francis. He graduated form Albany High School and then joined the US Air Force where he served from 1982 to 1988. He then became an Albany fireman for many years. He was awarded Firefighter of the year in 1994. For many years Daniel was self employed. In 2007 he joined the Roofers Union Local No. 241.
Daniel was and avid Mets and Giants fan. He loved golfing and fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He was the chef of the family; his dinners will be missed by all. Daniel's famous words were "are you hungry" and "do you need a hand".
In addition to his mother, Daniel is survived by his brother, Conrad (Veronica) Francis of Menands; his brother, Aaron Francis of Hawaii; his twin brother, Donald Francis of Albany; and his longtime companion, Kathy Kelsey. Daniel had one niece and many nephews and many inherited grandchildren.
We would like to thank Nina Lake and all the Hospice nurses for their wonderful care; and to Dr. Weissman, Dr. Gibbons, and the staff at Albany Medical radiation department, especially Lydia Skiba who became his guide and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
