AMSTERDAM- Daniel L. Zampella, 71, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Dan was born in Schenectady, NY to the late Albert and Mary Zampella, on December 11, 1943. In 1962 Dan graduated from Linton High School, and immediately enlisted in the United States Army, where he served during the Viet Nam War. After the war he moved back to Schenectady, where he began working for the State of New York. Throughout his working life Dan owned and operated many businesses, finally retiring from Combined Health Insurance Agency in 1990.
Dan is predeceased by his two brothers; Albert "Babe" Zampella, and Louis Zampella.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Zampella, his son, Matthew, his two grandchildren; Aleena and Giovanni Zampella, his sister, Harriet Goodrich, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:00am. Internment will take place at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, in Schenectady.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dan's name to The Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Diabetes Association.
