Fort Myers, FL.- Daniel R. Led Duke, 49 passed away suddenly on April 25, 2007 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Albany and was the beloved son of the late Isabel Vogel and Rodney Led Duke.
He is the father of Danielle "Lizzie" Led Duke, Hunter Daniel Richard Led Duke and Tyler Paul Led Duke; grandfather of Leanna Isabelle; brother of Donald R. (Chick) Led Duke and Dennis R. (Gail) Led Duke. Uncle of Donald, Spencer, Scott, Slade,. Dennis, Wendy and Kerry Led Duke.
Dan was a 1975 graduate of Colonie High School. Upon graduation from Hudson Valley Community College, Dan attended FIU in Miami on a baseball scholarship. He loved the game of baseball and played it with all his heart. Dan was a 10th round draft pick of the New York Yankees in 1978. He played in the farm system of the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros as a talented pitcher. An avid die hard Yankee fan, He often left people wondering if his blood ran white and blue. His dream of playing major league baseball was cut short by an injury to his throwing arm. After baseball, Dan worked in another profession with same passion, as a Senior Estimator for many construction firms in New York and Florida.
Dan will be sorely missed by all especially his extended family and good friends in Florida. He is at rest with his beloved dog, Sophie.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 8:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Francis de Sales Church, Loudonville at 9;00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial park.
