Daniel R. Hewes

ALBANY- Daniel R. Hewes, 52, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 1, 2009 and joins his long missed family members in heaven.
Daniel was born on August 24, 1956 in Lenox, Mass. and was the son of the late Thomas Hewes and Shirley (Greene) Prall. He was an avid animal lover and spent many years as a professional dog sitter. Dan also worked over the years in the kitchens of several local restaurants. He enjoyed playing pool and cards, going camping, listening to country music, boxing and martial arts, but most especially he enjoyed time spent with his family.
Daniel is survived by his loving daughters, Jennifer L. Hewes and Danielle B. Hewes; his cherished grandchildren, Julia Hewes Bennett and Colin Hewes Bennett; his sister, Kathy Shutter; his brothers, Robert Shutter and Francis Prall; his dear friends, Jean Gomez and Susan Lasher; his companion, Christine Kennedy; his beloved cat, Molly and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 12 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
