Daniel J. Smitas of Albany, New York died in his home Monday December 31, 2007. Dan was born at home in Albany to Elena and Anthony Smitas on April 29, 1931. He graduated from Vincentian Institute, Siena College and Georgetown Law School. He practiced law for 40 years in the Albany area.
He is survived by his loving wife Elissa J. Sanborn, his children; Kimberly Smitas, Christine Van Buren, Carrie Landry, Eliza McLeod and Daniel C. Smitas and grandchildren; Thayer Van Buren, Isabelle Daphnis and William Smitas.
Dan's wisdom and wit was respected and cherished by his friends and family and he will be greatly missed. There will be a celebration of his life on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 from noon to 4:00 pm at their home 323 Fuller Rd. Albany, NY.
