Schenectady– Daniel T. Travison, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was the son of the late Thomas Travison and Mildred Osbornlighter, and the older and protective brother of John and Patricia. Daniel was the devoted husband to Lavina M. Travison (née Hitt). They were married for 50 years.
Daniel was a master craftsman who worked as a carpenter and skilled tradesperson his entire life. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping and fishing, as well as bowhunting in his younger years. He was a talented oil painter, and loved reading, board games, and playing cards, particularly with his wife Lavina and his beloved sister Patricia Mizener.
Daniel served for many years as a leader in youth sports leagues and scouting organizations. He was fiercely devoted to his children and grandchildren, whom he enjoyed making laugh and carrying on his shoulders. He loved working with extended family members on countless home improvement and crafts projects. He was an outstanding mentor and teacher, who throughout his life gave tirelessly of his time and skills in assisting both those known and unknown to him.
Daniel is survived by his wife, sister, and brother; his children Tom, Theresa, Marjorie, Laura, Jennifer, and Kendra; his beloved grandchildren and extended family; and finally his devoted poodle Gracey, who now keeps loving watch over Daniel's family and domain.
A mass celebrating Daniel's life will be held starting 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 391 Delaware Avenue, Albany, NY 12209.
