Darwin "Huck" Spaulding Darwin "Huck" Spaulding, 84, died peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Albany Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born December 5, 1928, Huck lived in the Voorheesville area for many years. He was a veteran of the US Merchant Marines and the US Army. He started Spaulding and Rogers Mfg. in the late 1950's, and was the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of tattooing equipment. Huck enjoyed hunting, trapping, and stock car racing in his younger years. He traveled the world, and became an award winning big game hunter and a classic car enthusiast in later years. He was a big man who lived a big life, but the thing he was most proud of was his family. Huck is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine, as well as their four children Rita (Joseph) Peptis, Jay Spaulding, Bobbie (Joseph) DeFranco and Tommy (Mary) Spaulding. Grand children Shannon Speanburg, Candice (Tony) Rizzo, Joseph Peptis, Matthew (Jessica) Peptis, Joanna Peptis, Patrick Spaulding, Renee DiCarlo (deceased),William Lawyer, Jeffrey (Mary) Lawyer, Stephanie De Franco, TJ Spaulding, and Christina (John Buddenhagen) Spaulding. Great-grand children Mariah, Faith, Antonio, Giovanna, Jordan, Julianna, Abigail, Haley and Michelle. Huck is also survived by his sister, Margaret Verlander and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza Building 2, Suite 204, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Darwin "Huck" Spaulding.
