NISKAYUNA – David B. Lenahan, 34, passed away on Friday November 26, 2010 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. His courage and optimism during his illness was inspirational to many.
Born in Schenectady, David is the beloved son of John Michael and Cathy Lenahan of Niskayuna. Raised in East Greenbush, David graduated from Columbia High School in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Princeton University in 1998 and later a Masters Degree in History from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dave was employed as a Policy Analyst for the New York State Assembly and viewed his job as a challenging but exciting opportunity to work for the public good.
David enjoyed life, friendship, conversation and travel. He was an avid sports fan in general but was especially devoted to the University of Wisconsin Badgers. A man of encyclopedic knowledge and rapid recall, he was interested in music, literature, history, politics and trivia.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved sister, Dawn A. Lenahan of Albany, his grandmother, Shirley Levey of Schenectady; his grandfather, Robert Kaminsky and uncle, John Irish of Deerfield Beach, FL. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. Dave was predeceased by his grandparents, John J. and Katherine Lenahan of Greenport, NY.
David and his family wish to express their profound thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care provided to David during his illness by Dr. Stephen Hillinger and the entire staff at NYOH, Dr. James Puleo Jr., Dr. Vanessa Denning, the entire staff of Albany Memorial Hospital, especially the caring members of the 6th floor team.
A celebration of David's life will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
