On Friday September 30th 2011, David Thompson Becher, age 36, beloved husband of Melissa Becher and second dad of Rianna Ferrara, suddenly and tragically passed away at St. Peters Hospital following a brain aneurysm. David was the son of Robert Becher and Leslie Becher, brother of Alexander Becher and Emily Becher(Magee), grandson of Norman and Ruth Harvey of Queensbury, NY and Samuel and Lenore Becher of Pompano Beach FL.
David attended Emma Willard pre-school, Loudonville Elementary School, and Shaker Junior High and High School. He had a life- long love of sports and excelled at soccer, football, lacrosse and skiing. He eventually soared academically, graduating with honors first at Sage College with a degree in Psychology and then the MSW program at SUNY Albany. His professional career as a certified Masters level social worker began at Rehabilitation Support Services, then at Ellis Hospital's Continuing Day Treatment Program and currently he was employed by the NY State Office of Mental Health.
David had an unforgettable and truly unique sense of humor and perspective on the world. He was smart, funny, irreverent, mischievous, kind, loving, devoted, and an incredibly hard worker. In finding his true loves, Melissa and Rianna, he finally found his home. David's happiest days were spent taking care of his girls. He made dinner every Sunday for the whole family and the neighborhood, and had finally perfected his Italian "sauce". David was an avid NY Giants fan and loved watching football with his brother Alex. He was a homebody, who liked nothing better than working around the house, cooking, landscaping, and taking care of his family.
David was irreplaceable and his family and friends are terribly saddened by their loss.
