Loudonville- David W. Benjamin, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Hobart Benjamin and Loretta Candler. David was the devoted husband to Louise M. Benjamin. They were together 65 years meeting in High School when he was 16 and she was 15, married 58 years.
David retired from CHP where he worked in the mail room. Following his retirement, David had his own landscaping/scraping business, keeping busy.
David enjoyed spending time with his entire family. He was an avid camper. David had a fond love of music, especially singing karaoke.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, David J. (Deborah) Benjamin, James D. Benjamin, and Brian R. (Sherri) Benjamin; grandchildren, Jenna M. (Cole) Benjamin, Brian K.J. Benjamin, David L. Wania, and Danielle (Christian) Ruhlman; great-grandchild, Riley C. Wania; siblings, Peter (Lynn) Benjamin, Deena Rodgers, and Edward (Michelle) Benjamin; goddaughter, Christine A. Wagoner; cousin, Andrea G. Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his brothers, Brian and Joseph Benjamin.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, New York 12189 on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 10am to 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, 51 Belle Ave, Troy, NY 12180.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to David's Hospice caregivers, Eileen, Stephanie, and Joe, who provided kind and compassionate care to David and his family.
