Albany - David Michael Boyd of Albany, New York, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the age of 58. After finishing some yardwork, he was talking with his neighbor when he suddenly collapsed of a heart attack and was not able to be revived.
Michael was born on May 21, 1959 in Panama City, FL to the late Clifton Boyd and surviving mother Jane Boyd. He grew up in Cornwall, NY where he attended elementary, middle and high schools, and then went on to graduate from the State University of New York in Albany. He started his business career in New York City, spent a short time in San Francisco, and then returned to what became his home town of Albany, NY. In Albany he served his state for over 25 years in various progressive positions of the New York State Taxation and Finance Department, from which he had recently retired.
Michael was especially known for his quick wit, passion for life and loyalty to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Michael is survived by his mother, Jane G. Boyd (Silver Spring, MD), his sister, Maureen Shannon and family (Odenton, MD), his brother, Clifton Boyd and family (Downingtown, PA), and his longtime friend, David Ward and family (Albany, NY).
Visitions will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 21 at the New Comer Cremations & Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY 12205. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Albany SPCA, to which Michael was a dedicated supporter.
