COHOES, NY - David Mario Ceccucci, Sr., 88, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2007 at Albany Memorial Hospital, in the company of his loving family. Born in Cohoes on August 31, 1918, he was the son of the late Rodolfo and Luigia Perugini Ceccucci. David was a life-long resident of Cohoes, having lived most of his years on the Island in the house he built for his wife of 69 years, Rita, who passed away just five short months ago. A proud veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers building bridges in the Philippines and Japan. David grew up as a carpenter working with his father and brothers building many houses in Cohoes. Later, he was an officer in ARCY Plastics in Cohoes. His true passion was gardening. He was happiest with hands in the earth, tending his crops, sharing his harvest with family and friends. He was a life-long NY Yankees fan and a closet NY Mets fan. David is the beloved father of Randy (Judy) Ceccucci of Tennessee, Louise (Fred) Brady of Colonie, Gary (Sandy) Ceccucci of Virginia, David (Christine) Ceccucci of Latham and Eileen Ceccucci of Cohoes. He is the cherished grandfather of Michell (Stephen) Follett of California, Darren (Erin) Ceccucci of Clifton Park, Garen Ceccucci of Virginia, David (Samara) Ceccucci of Troy and Kendra Ceccucci of Virginia. He is the loving great-grandfather of Mia, Ryan, Adison and Grady. David is the brother of Eleanor McGrath of Cohoes and the late Laura Bartolini, Helen Pereault and Augusto, Raymond, Rudolph, Harold and Randall Ceccucci. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael J. Esposito and his staff for their many years of excellent care and to the 4th floor staff of Albany Memorial Hospital for providing comfort in his final hours. A very special thank you to Helen Mohr for her dedicated care.
