COLONIE - David R. Cummings, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at home with family by his side.
David was born on January 6, 1948 in Cohoes and was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Valentine) Cummings.
David graduated from Tamarac high school and worked as a dishwasher for Jack's Oyster House in Albany for many years before retiring. He lived out his life with his sister, Debbie, and enjoyed watching Yankee games with her. His favorite place was his childhood home on the farm where he loved watching the field for deer while taking his morning and afternoon walks to visit with his friends and neighbors; who affectionately referred to him as the mayor of Tory Hill, but he’d always be home in time for dinner. David had a kind and gentle spirit of innocence and he loved sharing his smile and laugh with everyone he came across. His family was everything and his love for them ran deep. He loved nature and animals and was rarely seen without one of his beloved pets by his side.
David is survived by his sisters, Denise (John) Cummings-Hawk, Patricia (John) Cummings Gallagher and Mary Ann Yuhasz; his nephew’s, Adam K. (Jessica Maciong) Manns, Hunter Lawyer, Jason Hawk, Kevin (Joann) Gallagher, Christian (Naomi) Manns, Shane (Erin) Manns, and Brian Yuhasz; his niece, Kimberly Yuhasz Gass and many other great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Cummings Manns.
A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy (use Tibbits Avenue entrance).
