David E. Schaffer

ALBANY - David E. Schaffer, 97, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, surrounded by his loving sister and family.
David was born on April 11, 1918 in Albany and was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Sweet) Schaffer, Sr. He was a boiler maker for General Electric in Schenectady for over 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed building homes, gardening, camping and loved taking care of his home.
David is survived by his loving sister, Ann Ryan of East Berne along with many nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his wife, Nellie T. (Sollecito) Schaffer and his siblings, Clarence, Josephine White, Frank Jr., Arthur, Donald, and Floyd.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks for the loving care and support provided by the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center! It will always be remembered!
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY.
