David E. Stealey

ALBANY – David E. Stealey, 56, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Troy and was the beloved son of the late Ray and Alice Stealey. Dave was a loving family man and a people person who always had a smile and a joke for everyone. He enjoyed NASCAR, the N.Y. Yankees, family gatherings, camping, hanging in the barn and being out with his close friends at the Across the Street Pub and Maggie's Café. Dave is the loving husband of 26 years to Donna Stealey. He is the adoring father of Tracey Marie (Wayne), David (Alyssa) and Nick (Stephanie). He is the grandfather of Nicholas and Allana. He is the brother of Charles (Betty), Robert (Sandra), Donald (Debbie) and Richard (Sue). Dave is the son-in-law of Marie Wood and brother-in-law of Bill Durand and Richard (Dawn) Wood. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, "Moo." In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Buck, his sister, Patty and his father-in-law, Richard Wood. Donna and Tracey would especially like to thank the staff at Albany Memorial Hospital, particularly the overworked sixth floor nurses who took such wonderful care of Dave and also the paracentesis staff for their tender care.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Guilderland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of David E. Stealey.
