David Floyd, Sr.
July 2, 1925 — May 20, 2016
David Floyd Sr., 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home in Staunton, VA.
David was the son of the late Roscoe Floyd and Alice Floyd.
He was predeceased by his beloved wives Grace and Betty.
David was a very proud veteran of the US Navy, retiring after 21 years with the rank of Master Chief Gunners Mate. After the service he was a successful residential home builder in Colonie.
David is survived by his four children, David (Meg) Floyd, Jr., Dolores (Ted) Correll, Debra Froeschle and Donna Rivenburg. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren; Steven, Jeffrey, Heather, Amy, Mike, Amanda, Alison and Hannah; and close family and friends including Tom Rivenberg, Richard Froeschle and Janice Floyd.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday May, 31, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9:00 am the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brightview - Baldwin Park Independent and Assisted Living for their wonderful care of our father in his last years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the USS Slater, PO Box 1926 Albany, NY 12201-1926 in memory of Chief David Floyd, where he volunteered for many years.
