COLONIE-David G. "Cookie" Cook, 82, passed away at St. Peters Hospital on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
David was born on February 4, 1934 in Albany, NY to the late William and Emma Cook. David served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955- 1958 as a Military Special Police Officer. He was a member of the Wadsworth Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. David retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service. David had a love of all sports, especially the New York Yankees, and the New York Giants. He was very active in all of the local bowling, golfing, and billiards leagues. He will be greatly missed at the Beltrone Center. His passion in life was his family. David was quick to laugh, and quick with a joke. He will be remembered for his light hearted and social attitude.
David is predeceased by siblings; William Cook, Janet Cook, Elise Cook, and Charles Cook.
He is survived by his children; Brian (Rachel) Cook, and Lynn (Sean) Gallagher, his sister, Eileen Schermerhorn, his grandchildren; Veronica, Riley, Makenna, Devon, and Shane. He will be greatly missed by his longtime partner, Mary Lou Durkee, and her daughter, Dana Kaupp.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery.
