Rotterdam- David Gade passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023. Dave and his twin sister Dianne were born May 1,1935 to Hattie (Spawn) and George Gade. He was 88.
Dave is survived by his wife Sharon Martin Gade who he married on August 16, 1967, two sisters Thelma Elgie and Dianne Gade and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three sisters May McNair, Elizabeth (Betty) Lehman and Sylvia Bush.
Dave was a graduate of Draper High School and worked at GE for 42 years. He was a graduate of the GE Apprentice Program and named GE Apprentice of the year in 1962. He served in the Army. Dave was a member of the American Rose Society, an accredited rose judge and an ARS Master Rosarian. He started growing roses in 1973 and for several years had over 500 prize winning roses in his yard. Dave was a founding member of Central Park's Rose Garden Restoration Committee and known as the rose expert or the rose man, he was instrumental in restoring the Central Park Rose Garden. Being an avid bowler, Dave had several 300 games.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church 3040 Hamburg St, Schenectady, NY 12303. A calling hour will be prior to the mass from 10:00am-11:00am.
