David C. Hoffman, 70, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Arthur Hoffman and Mary (Sweeney) Riley. David was the youngest of fifteen children and lived in Colonie for most of his life. Mr. Hoffman served his country in the U.S. Army as a paramedic. He was a retired firefighter for the City of Albany with Engine 11. David enjoyed cars and computers and was an avid carpenter. David is the beloved father of Christine (Leslie) McDermott and Carrie-Lyn (Jeffry) Lauria. He is the cherished grandfather of Larissa and Ryan Frisch and Austin Lauria. He is the former husband and best friend of Carolyn Hoffman. Also surviving is his faithful canine companion, "Galileo" as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church, Colonie at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Albany Firefighters Widows and Children Fund, 39 Quail Street, Albany, NY 12206 in memory of David C. Hoffman.
