David K. Demoulpied

May 31, 1930 — May 24, 2015

COLONIE-David K. deMoulpied, "Poppy", 84, passed away at his home after a five year battle with cancer fought on his terms. Born in Manchester NH, he graduated from Stratford High School, and then attended Leland Powers School of Radio, Theater and Television in Boston, MA. His love of radio broadcasting was evident in a career that lasted 45 years. He was the pre eminent voice of local radio news in the Capital District with a career at WROW that spanned four decades. He was the station's News Director, and part of its popular morning show with his partners Bill Shallcross and Richard Hill.
He loved the ocean, especially Cape Cod. That love started at a young age when his family would spend summers in York, Maine. He instilled that love in his family as well. And they have many fond memories of vacations spent together on the Cape or in Maine.

He was a lifelong, dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, and those who knew him well could tell how the Sox did the night before based on his mood that day.
Most important to him though was his family, especially his lovely wife of 61 years, Edwina Fletcher, who predeceased him in 2012.

He was the son of Margaret Cheney, and Arthur Ward deMoulpied. Step son of Vladamir Popovsky. He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Vincenza) deMoulpied, Melinda (Walter) Budnowski and David (Stephanie) deMoulpied, his cherished grandchildren: Amy (Doug) Anderson, Scott (Jeanie), Brian, Michele, Michael, Matthew, Madeleine and Abigail deMoulpied; and his great-grandchildren, Paige and Ethan. He is also survived by his sister Deborah deMoulpied (Donna Fricke), his brother Peter Popovsky (Verna).

His family would especially like to thank Ambica Singh for her compassionate and tireless care given him over the years, especially during these last few weeks. We are forever grateful.

Memorial services will be held at a date and time to be determined by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or The Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
