NISKAYUNA – David L. O'Donnell, 71, went to his eternal rest with our Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2010.
David was born on January 19, 1939 in Albany was the son of the late David F. and Ruth (Carman) O'Donnell. He served in the US Army as a military police officer for some time. He was an engineer on CSX Transportation, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 46. He was an active member of the Colonie Elks B.P.O.E. #2192 for 31 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR racing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Always enjoyed his home and working outside in the yard and small garden. He was a resident of Birchwood lane for over 40 years. He will be missed and remembered with all our love.
David is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Nancy O'Donnell. David has three sisters, Mary (Edward) Gardella, Kathleen (Raymond) Palmer, and Barbara (Gary) Friss; a brother, Peter (Shirley) O'Donnell; two daughters, Holly Nolan and Lori Race; and a son, David O'Donnell Jr. He is also survived by four other sons, Frank (Sandra) Ovitt, Gary (Diane) Ovitt, Richard (Chere) Ovitt, and John (Claudia) Ovitt; another daughter, Debra (Robert) Barkevich; a son-in-law, Tom Picard; and his stepmother-in-law, Peggy Jeram. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many dear, loving friends and fishing buddies at the lake. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Picard.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Memory Gardens in Colonie.
