Latham- David Macdonald, 64, passed away Friday, November 18,, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital with his sisters by his side.
Dave was born in Oneonta, New York and subsequently raised in Slingerlands, attending Bethlehem Central Schools. As a dedicated Boy Scout, Dave achieved his Eagle Scout Award in 1976. A graduate of HVCC and SUNY IT, Utica, Dave enjoyed a long career with National Grid, working his way up to Senior Relay Technician at the time of his death.
Dave is survived by his parents, Donald and Betty Jo Macdonald, his sisters, Kathy (Jim) Whalen, Lynn Rivers (Tom Derion), Janis (Bob) Koshgarian. Dave is also survived by nieces and nephews, Shawn Rivers (Brittany), Erica Rivers, Jim Whalen (Tristine), Lindsey (Tom) Duclos, Lauren (Luke) Aguera, Alex Koshgarian (Lia), and six great nieces and nephews. Dave also treasured his relationships with many close friends.
Over the years, Dave enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping and mountain biking. He was an avid photographer and would document his adventures and family events though photos. His love for music led him to tour the country to attend concerts and music festivals. Some of his favorites included The Grateful Dead, Phish and various jazz and blue grass musicians. He enjoyed many concerts at The Egg and Troy Music Hall. Dave was die hard Green Bay Packers fan of which he was a proud shareholder. A passionate Formula 1 racing fan, Dave has been disappointed with his favorite driver Louis Hamilton this year and spent many hours lamenting his standings. In the past few years, and following in his father's footsteps, Dave became interested in investing in the stock market and day trading.
Dave's kindness, generosity and dry sense of humor will be missed by family and friends alike.
Calling hours and a celebration of Dave's life will be on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 3 to 6pm at New Comer Funeral Home 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189.
