Schenectady ~
David Munafo, 52, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday June 12th 2017.
He is the son of Virginia Munafo and the late Joseph Munafo, Sr.
He was loved by his friends and family. He will be especially missed by the children of the family for whom he had a special place in his heart. They include his son, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. David's love for them always went above and beyond! He found a new love for Christ and attended Grace Fellowship Church. His favorite hockey team was the New York Rangers and he faithfully watched every game. David also loved sitting in the sun and getting the best tan. He loved the warmth of the sun and looked forward to being outside on nice days so he could listen to the birds and/or jam to music by himself or with friends, while enjoying the weather. His greatest passions throughout his life were his guitars and music. He taught himself to play the guitar at a young age and played in local bands throughout The Capital Region. He suffered a spinal cord injury in 1990 but kept his love of music alive, ultimately learning to play the guitar all over again. David even played some of the songs he had written himself, several hours before his passing.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia Munafo, son Anthony Crandall, siblings Salvatore Munafo (Penny), Joseph Munafo Jr. (Susan), Mary Munafo-Shaver (Jamie), Daniel Munafo (Raina), grandchildren Aaron and Kirsten Crandall, nieces and nephews: Angelina, Anna, Rafaella, Brenden, Matthew and Gabriella, and great nieces and nephews: Joseph, Nathan, Morgan, Isabella, Charles and Oliver. Finally, he leaves behind his closest friends, Teri Flood, Donnie Jones and Sarah Ann, the love of his life!
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 11th from 5-7 p.m. at Capital Church, 31 Vly Rd., Colonie. A celebration of David's life will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. at the church. Refreshments following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to The Miami Project to cure Paralysis, 1095 NW 14th Terrace #48, Miami, FL 33136
