WYNANTSKILL – David Michael Roy, 55, crossed the bridge and to eternal rest on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Born in Troy of May 31, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert and Ila Roy. He was one of four children.
Dave was a 1976 graduate of Averill Park. Dave enjoyed motorcycling and music. His favorite pastime was tinkering around his home. Dave devoted a great deal of his life taking care of his parents. Dave worked in maintenance for Tek Hughes and XL Company, and then pursued a career as a paralegal. He was a foreclosure technician for Statewide Funding, Co. of Clifton Park. In 1995, he joined Progressive Insurance and trained as a Management Skills Trainer, eventually becoming a Claims Adjuster. Dave was highly organized and always readily available to problem solve and/or assist his co-workers. A memorial stone will be dedicated in his honor by Progressive Insurance in the future for his service.
Dave is survived by his older brother Robert (Linda) Roy, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sisters Jeanne Jasiewicz of Wynantskill and Denise Roy of West Sand Lake; five nieces, three nephews and multiple grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will be deeply missed by both family and friends.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Blessing and prayer will be held on Friday at 12:00 pm at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in Dave's name.
