David Michael Siler passed away on March 22, 2017. He was born in Schenectady in 1962 and attended public schools. David set out early in life; traveling, exploring, and living a life of adventure known to few.
David's travels took him from panning for gold in the Alaskan wilderness among grizzlies and wolves to hiking the Sierra Nevadas deepest reaches. He lived in the Carolinas where he operated a commercial fishing outfit for many years.
His harrowing (and potentially) death defying adventures were worthy of a book! David would brag of being in every state. As a child, he was even given a letter of accommodation by the governor of NY State for capturing a 15 foot Burmese python. His fearless nature was evident while, as a boy, as he captured every snake he could.
For those who knew him, he was a gentle soul. In his later years, David spent his time reading and quietly contemplating.
David passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. He offered to participate in experimental treatments which may aid future patients.
He is survived by his mother Gracemary Winroth, his step father Al, his sister Kristina and his brothers Glen and Raymond. No memorial will take place.
